ICC to hold arbitration workshop

iccThe ICC Institute of World Business Law is holding a three-and-a-half day workshop at the Paris Secretariat on 13-16 October, to familiarize legal professionals with the very latest practices in international commercial arbitration.

This course is an annual fixture, and has been the springboard for many lawyers to ‘get their feet wet’ in international commercial arbitration,” said Serge Lazareff, Chairman of the ICC Institute of World Business Law. “Many of them have gone on to become experienced arbitrators and some have helped shape the arbitration affairs of their countries in important ways. The PIDA course is an essential first step.

Participants, including lawyers, magistrates, in-house counsel and business executives involved in international trade and dispute resolution, will learn the tactics and strategies behind drafting international arbitration documents using ICC rules. A mock case will be studied in small groups of no more than 10 to stimulate active participation by all. "The PIDA seminar simulates every step of a real ICC arbitration from the initial request to the final award. It is a practical and lively experience, with each participant actively involved in the process as party, counsel, witness or arbitrator, and benefiting from the guidance of highly qualified and experienced professionals," said Laurent Jaeger, Partner at Latham and Watkins, France.

Enrollment is strictly limited and early registration is strongly encouraged. The working language is English and French. The event is eligible for credit in New York, California, England and Wales, and is pending approval in France.

To allow participants who come from all corners of the world to network with their colleagues, a full optional social programme is offered, including a guided tour of the Louvre museum.
